Preschool Story Hour Starts Off the Season

A couple dozen eager children are attending the library's preschool story hour sessions.  The theme for the year is Nursery Rhymes, Fairy Tales, and Numbers.  Each week we will explore a traditional fairy tale and perhaps some newer versions, a nursery rhyme, a letter of the alphabet, and a number.  We talked about Mother Goose.Children like having their very own notebooks to keep all the sessions materials in.  The first week we had lots of fun acting out Little Miss Muffet, and the second week children helped act out the story of the Three Little Pigs.

The library's a cool place to come for many reasons, including putting on your very own puppet show for Mom.

We like to think our library is growing lots of great readers!

Line Dancin' After School With Andy Armadillo

Andy Armadillo, the mascot from the Texas Roadhouse restaurant, and his pals showed up for a special program at the library.  After his friend read the book Armadillo from Amarillo, the  crew taught a lesson to the children on line dancing.  They gave out lots of free kids' meal passes and other things.  The kids had a great time.  The library really appreciates the partnership with Texas Roadhouse.  They provide many reading incentives to promote literacy.  Thanks, Joseph Ellis and crew! The kids participated in a couple of contests as well.
